On October 3rd, 2010, Germany will celebrate the 20th anniversary of East and West Germany reunification. After World War II (in 1949), Germany was divided into occupation zones, creating East Germany and West Germany. In 1961, the Berlin Wall was built creating a physical division of Germany. In 1989, the wall was removed and reunification followed in 1990.
