Making and Reading a Neighborhood Map

Games

  • Build a Neighborhood Activity - A neighborhood is a place where people live, work, and play. What kind of neighborhood picture do you want to make? A house, a farm, a construction site?

Lessons

  • Map Adventures - Map Adventures, with seven accompanying lessons, is appropriate for grades K-3. Students will learn basic concepts for visualizing objects from different perspectives and how to understand and use maps.

Projects

  • Creating an Edible Map - Students will create a map and examine the physical geography, borders, and/or cities/towns of an area.
  • Clifford Printables - Print out buildings from Clifford to create a 3-D town.
  • Mapping the Neighborhood - The children, with the assistance of an adult, map their neighborhood.
  • Where I Live - Children will identify specific characteristics of their own neighborhood and share the information with their classmates.
