Print the pdf: John Brown Coloring Page and color the picture.On October 16th, 1859, John Brown tried to free slaves by raiding a federal armory in Harper's Ferry, Virginia. His plan was to confiscate the weapons and distribute them to slaves in the region, creating an army of African Americans that would march through the South and force the release of slaves. On October 18th, the marines surrounded the building, but Brown refused to surrender. The marines stormed the building leaving 17 dead, including two of Brown's sons. John Brown was tried and found guilty of treason. The raid was one of the many causes leading to the Civil War.
