John Deere was an inventor and industrialist who manufactured plows suitable for working the prairie soil. John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont, on February 7, 1804. As a blacksmith, he began making plows out of polished steel solving the problem of the soil sticking to the blades and needing to be cleaned often. Rather than built to order, Deere made many plows and took them to the country to be sold. This was the beginning of the John Deere Company.
