Introduction/Welcome Message:
A-T-H-E-N-A (Arizona Teaching Home Education with a Neo-Pagan Attitude) is a Home school group for Pagans in Arizona ages range from birth till graduation, this group and its members will be giving tips for home education, having get together's and teaching our children about the God and Goddess of our tradition and sometimes just giving morale support to its nearly bald parents (I have just about pulled out all of my hair by now). This group is hopefully the beginning of a full scale Pagan Home school community/network. I decided to start this group because I have not found an Arizona Pagan Home school group that have the aspirations to do what I would like to do with this group. So what do I want to do, well recently I attended a Home school graduation for a family member that was hosted by A.F.H.E (Arizona Families for Home Education) while the ceremony was beautiful and seeing so many Home schooler's graduate was amazing, I couldnt help but feel this is not what I want for my 8 year-old daughter in 10 years, I want something for her that is Pagan based not Christian, that is held in a place other than a church and that does not include Christian prayer. I want for my child what the Christians have for their children, a ceremony that is spiritually fulfilling as well as marking a milestone in my childs life, so I decided that I would begin with a group and hopefully within 10 years have a full scale network of information, events and especially graduations by the time my child is ready to graduate.
