Putting the kids in school - a tough decision indeed
Monday January 14, 2008
My two oldest grandchildren had their first day in private school today. I never thought I'd be writing this, but it's true, we sent them to school. It was indeed a difficult decision to make, but one that we are all comfortable with. With all the changes in their household this year and the strain of having a child with autism in the house, it has been a very difficult year especially for my oldest grandson. Hopefully, there will be some relief and all the kids will excel.
The kids had a great first day and, of course, their favorite part was recess and lunch! It was a day of mixed emotions for me, but I loved hearing about the excitement of their first day of school.
So, what if you want to put your kids in school? Will you have the support of your friends and family or be judged and criticized? It's funny that I wrote this article exactly 4 years ago and feature it in my newsletter every year at this time.

This decision arrived for me this year. I feel me exactily like you are explaining.
We live and are far away from our families, we hope friends can be a good help.
We have take this decision because after 3 years homeschooling with our oldest grandson, he decide himselve that he don`t like to do the home school any more. He like to be with friends, he like to have contact with more people in his same age.
He will be 13 years old this month.
My apologizes for my poor english but I read your post and feel me invited to express me.
Thanks

I homeschooled my 9 year old son last year and this year his dad wanted him back in School becuase he feels he needs to be with the kids but this has been a hard year we Have not had a good time with his teacter and we don’t have a voice in the school my sons grads are going down we are hoping to move soon and I can’t wait I think my son would do better at home but my husband has the final say.
I speak to homeschoolers all day and I hear endless fascinating stories about how they got into homeschooling. And often, how they return their kids into schools. Despite what the zealots say and the way many websites read, there is a constant flow of kids back and forth between the two approaches. In many situations, the complement each other.
