Homeschooling In Between Times

Sunday September 30, 2007
There are times when our homeschooling is in the forefront and we are having a great time studying some great topic. There are other times when we are just doing subjects to say we did them and moving on with our lives. That is the stage we are in right now. I have been waiting for my kids to study California History since I was in the 4th grade because I LOVED IT so much. But, I have not had the time to plan or prepare for anything so we are just inching along and checking of school days. One thing I have done is to make things a little easier so the stress level is lighter. One thing that has helped me with this is a book called Intermediate Language Lessons by Emma Serl. This book is so "gentle" as my friend put it and keeps Timothy from tears quite nicely. It is not an end all to English, but for now it is just the thing.

Google has this book for free download: Intermediate Language Lessons.

Sometimes low-key and simple are very necessary for our sanity as mom/teachers and as a family.

We are having a tough 1st half of the year just due to “stuff”. We keep having to travel and it stresses me out and exhausts me. Though , it’s nothing compared to what your family is dealing with! I get frustrated because tomorrow is the first of October and we’ve only had 12 days of actual school (and some of those were less than ideal). I have to keep reminding mself that it will all turn out just fine in the end and that this is just a season of life.
