Getting Older

Monday March 26, 2007
This month has been a month of getting older I suppose.  I am perfectly fine with getting older, it's happening all around me, but some things getting older are sadder than others.  First, my baby turned 8 on March 6th and that was fine with me.

Then, I had a birthday on the 14th. That was fun, we went to the zoo and had a nice day.

Then, my 3rd baby turned 4 on the 24th and that was fine, joyous even.

But the saddest event was today when this thing died:

rice

Isn't it sweet? I got it from my mother in-law when I was first married 8 1/2 years ago. Today I was being all efficient and started dinner early and quickly found out that my rice cooker no longer worked. :( I was surprised at my sadness at the demise of this cooking appliance because many of the things that I had received as a wedding gift have long been gone. I had just hoped this one would stay around a little longer. I do have comfort though, because as I mentioned in another post, my mom bought be the most wonderful thing for my birthday. Here it is:

roomba

Isn't it lovely? It is my new best friend! As I sit here and blog, guess what I am doing? Vacuuming! Amazing!

So, I suppose I am on to a new chapter in my life. A chapter with no rice but very clean floors. I think I can live with that!

You are so cute! I’m so sorry to hear about your rice cooker. It did serve you well. May it rest in peace. I hope your Roomba brings you much peace and joy and lasts as long as your faithful rice cooker.

Love ya,
Mom

I still have my wedding crockpot. It’s the only appliance that lasted as long as my marriage.

I’ve heard great things about that vacuum. Does it really work as well as people say?
