MonDAZE

Monday is a difficult day for us here at our house. We're all tired and recovering from the weekend, the house is a mess and it's time to get back to business. I usually try to take it slow on Mondays and sometimes we need to regroup and make a new plan. Today is one of those days! I finally put away the school books and sent my son into the garage to build a bird house. We've had a birdhouse wood kit for years and I've just never gotten it out. Today I decided that my son needed something constructive to do, so I set him to it.

Let me tell you it took no time at all to put that thing together, he was thrilled to use the hammer and screw driver and right now he's waiting for the wood sealant to dry so that he can paint it. He just keeps saying over and over, "Look at my birdhouse, I made it all by myself!"

What a difference it has made in his day! He got some energy out, got to get dirty, even hammered his finger and now he's got this beautiful birdhouse to show for it! He's learned so much more doing this than he would have if I had pushed the books today.

If there's one thing you need to do if you're going to homeschool, it's BE FLEXIBLE!!
