Our Christmas treasure bottle

Project/Recipe We Made

We made the Christmas treasure bottle.

How We Made It

We used colored sand and Christmas buttons that I got from Michaels, we also used erasers and jingle bells, which I was later bummed to find out they can't jingle when they are filled with sand. :) I started out with full bottles, which I dumped out in the morning and then tried to blow dry which worked until the bottle started melting. We then picked our treasures, filled the bottle half way with sand and added the treasures in. Next we put in more sand and glued the lid shut. This was an easy fun craft and my daughter enjoyed making one for her little brother too. We put less sand in his, so that it would be easier for him to find things in the sand.

Tips and Tricks

  • I took a picture of the treasures in before I put them in and am going to print that out for my daughter, since she can't read.
  • A cool blow dryer helps speed up the drying process.
