Support Group Demographic

Secular

NWASH is for secular homeschoolers currently residing in Northwest Arkansas. We most frequently meet up in Fayetteville, but our membership includes residents of Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville, and several outlying towns and areas. Our trips and meet ups also occur in other areas of NWA, such as field trips to state parks, museums, events, conservation and education centers, member homes, etc.

Support Group Vision / Mission Statement

NW Arkansas Secular Home Schooling is a forum for Northwest Arkansas residents homeschooling for nonreligious reasons. Anyone is welcome to join, regardless of if s/he is or is not religious, personally, or attends or doesn't attend a church, as long one's homeschooling is not for religious reasons or about moderating family exposure to environments, learning, or peers not adhering to a particular religious perspective. This is not a forum for bashing or defending religious homeschooling. Our purpose is to support and connect secular homeschooling families in NW Arkansas. Our egroup serves as a point of contact for finding other secular homeschoolers in the NWA area and it is a place for us to plan events and share support and information about various secular resources for curriculum, events, groups, etc. NWASH meets weekly for play group and occasionally for other trips and events, too. In support of an active community for secular homeschoolers in NWA, members are welcomed and encouraged to participate regularly on the egroup and in person, suggest local events and resources, post questions and comments, and organize group field trips or other meet-ups.

Advice

  • We have an active and friendly community of parents and children of all ages.
  • We meet weekly for play group on Fridays, as well as occasionally for other trips or events as members plan them.
