February 11th is National Foundation Day in Japan. National Foundation Day celebrates the founding of the nation and the imperial line by its first emperor, Emperor Jimmu, on February 11, 660 BC. The holiday was originally called Empire Day, but after World War II, the holiday was abolished. In 1966, the holiday was re-established as National Foundation Day and is still a day for expressing patriotism of love of the nation.
