Oregon Hazelnut Raisin Cookies

Ninety-nine percent of all hazelnuts grown in the United States come from Willamette Valley in Oregon.

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped Oregon hazelnuts

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cream together first four ingredients, set aside. Mix flour, saltshortening, vanilla, eggs, and water. Mix in sugars. Stir flour, salt, and baking soda together and add to mixture. Stir in oatmeal, raisins and hazelnuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
