The Hale-Bopp Comet was discovered on July 23, 1995 by Alan Hale and Thomas Bopp. Hale-Bopp Comet's closest approach to earth occurred on March 22, 1997.
Space Shuttle Columbia's 3rd Mission
On March 22, 1982, Space Shuttle Columbia launched on its 3rd mission. The 8-day mission was commanded by Jack R. Lousma and piloted by Charles G. Fullerton. The objectives of the mission were to continue testing the Remote Manipulator System and conduct extensive thermal testing. The Columbia landed on March 30, 1982 at White Sands, New Mexico.
