Shopping Carts were first introduced on June 4, 1937, at Humpty Dumpty Market in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A local mechanic and market owner, Sylvan Goldman, designed the shopping cart. It was built with the frame of a folding chair, with 2 baskets added and wheels added to each leg.
