Charles Lindbergh's Birthday
Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902, in Detroit, Michigan. Lindbergh was an American aviator who made the first solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean, from New York to Paris on May 20-21, 1927. His nickname was "Lucky Lindy." He died on August 27, 1974 and was buried at Maui, Hawaii.
First U.S. President Elected
On January 7, 1789, America's first presidential election was held. Americans cast ballots for electors who unanimously chose George Washington to be the nation's first president on February 4th, 1789. George Washington was sworn into office on April 30, 1789.
Rubber Galoshes
On February 4, 1824, J.W. Goodrich introduced rubber galoshes to the world. Rubber galoshes are waterproof overshoes that protect shoes from water or snow. It's a lot of fun to put on your rain coat and galoshes and play in the rain!
