Fall/Autumn Essay

By Beverly Hernandez, About.com

by Indiana, age 7:

Autumn begins after summer and ends at winter. This year Fall began in the Northern Hemisphere on September 22. It will end on December 20.

The beginning of Fall is also known as the Autumnal Equinox. Some people celebrate it with fun festivals. There are many holidays during Fall. Some holidays that are celebrated are Rosh Hashanah, Columbus Day, Yom Kipper, Halloween, Samhain, Veteran's Day, and Thanksgiving.

During Autumn the leaves fall from most trees. They do not fall off of Yule trees and other evergreen plants. The weather gets colder in Autumn and the night comes earlier in the evenings. Autumn is known as a season of change.
