Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856 – February 3, 1924) was the 28th President of the United States. Woodrow Wilson proclaimed a crusade to make the world "safe for democracy". President Wilson tried to keep the United States out of World War I, but German submarines sank U.S. ships, forcing President Wilson to ask Congress for a declaration of war on Germany, entering the United States in World War I. President Wilson presented the Versailles Treaty; the Covenant of the League of Nations.
