John Quincy Adams (July 11, 1767 – February 23, 1848) was the 6th President of the United States. John Quincy Adams was the first president who was the son of a president. While he was in office, he proposed a network of highways and canals and the establishment of a national university, but he couldn’t win support for his plans. After leaving office, he was elected to the House of Representatives, where he served for the rest of his life and earned the nickname “Old Man Eloquent” for his speeches.
