George W. Bush (born July 6, 1946) was the 43rd President of the United States. George W. Bush won the presidency by such a slim margin that it was difficult to tell who won the electoral vote and it took 36 days to finally declare a winner. While George W. Bush was in office, he passed the No Child Left Behind Act; he declared war on terrorism after the September 11 terrorist attacks; he announced a new plan for NASA and space exploration after the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy and he dealt with the aftermaths of Hurricane Katrina. George W. Bush served two terms. He was the second American president to be the son of a former president.
