Dwight D. Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 - March 25, 1969) was the 34th President of the United States. Dwight D. Eisenhower, also known as Ike, was Commanding General during World War II and was responsible for the victory won by the United States and its allies. He was a hero and everybody liked him. While he was in office he assumed Supreme Command over the new NATO forces in 1951 and dealt with desegregation of schools writing, "There must be no second class citizens in this country."
