Hillary Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. Hillary Clinton was a lawyer before becoming the First Lady. She was very active in her role as First Lady. She was appointed to head up a task force on health care reform. She was an advocate for children’s rights and helped in the creation of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, the Adoption and Safe Families Act, and the Foster Care Independence Act. Hillary Clinton went on to become a U.S. Senator for New York. In 2008, she ran for President of the United States, but lost to Barack Obama, who made her part of his cabinet as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State.
