Caroline Scott Harrison was born on October 1, 1832, in Oxford, Ohio. Caroline Harrison had the White House renovated and modernized, bringing electricity in the White House. Caroline designed a new set of China for the White House and created a display of China patterns from previous administrations. The Harrison’s were also the first to have a Christmas tree in the White House. Caroline fell ill after a trip to California and died from tuberculosis on October 25, 1892.
