Barack Hussein Obama II (born August 4, 1961) became the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009. He is the first African American to hold the office of President. President Obama leads the country during a financial crisis. His focus has been on stimulating economic recovery. On April 4, 2011, President Obama announced he will be seeking re-election in the 2012 presidential election.
