Discovering the world again, through his eyes

Homeschooling Grandmother

From Happily Homeschooling Grandma

When our grandson was not quite ready for school, we looked at homeschooling. Wow! It has been a mind-opening experience. The best has been the wide range of choices in helping him to get the best education for him. As an "older mom" he has kept me on my toes and young-at-heart. At this point in my life, I am taking the time to enjoy discovering the world again through his eyes. It has been as much an education for me as it has been for him.

We get up, do chores, then Bible and math. Then we vary. We read literature I never knew existed; we may go outside while reading. We do nature study and discover animals and plant life in our neighborhoods. Of course, I do the requisite taxi duty - to basketball, baseball, guitar lessons, social gatherings, etc. We've even made field trips to Williamsburg, Virgina and other places. I feel so blessed to be at this point in my life (retired) where I can do all these wonderful adventures with my grandson.
