Homeschooling Grandmother

From Debra, for About.com

I am writing to tell you my story about homeschooling my grandson. He is 15 years old. He has lived with me since he was 15 months old. He was educated in a Christian school from kindergarden through 7th grade. He was diagnosed with ADHD in 3rd grade. In 7th grade, he began having a hard time keeping up with his studies. He noticed that the other children could finish their work faster than he could. His grades dropped tremendously. I decided to put him into public school, to get extra tutoring. Unfortunately, this did not work out. In fact, his grades became F's. It was at this time that I decided to homeschool him. After a lot of research, I chose Switched on Schoolhouse. We have been doing it for a year and he is making all A's. I do not regret this choice and would not trade the experience for anything. I strongly recommend homeschooling to anyone that would like to get to know their child and have moments that cannot be compared with anything.
