One was already mentioned: educational field trips. Zoos, aquariums, museums, factory tours, vacations all have great learning opportunities.
The other biggie is sharing his hobbies with our daughter. They garden together in the summer. They start out in the spring planting seedlings indoors and preparing the garden. They continue all the way through harvest and prepping the garden for winter. He also loves photography and has been teaching her that. And he's a computer geek, so this past weekend he has taught her how to put together the new computer we just got and has started teaching her Logo, an educational programming language.
So my basic advice is to think outside the curriculum and have them spend time together. They'll learn a lot from each other.
