Dads and Homeschooling

From the Homeschooling Forum - HomeschoolLady03

By Beverly Hernandez, About.com

Hi! I'm mom to 1 year old son, 2 year old daughter, and a 10 year old son.

My husband does not help with teaching at all. I really haven't asked him too. I do all the formal teaching, along with planning, legal documentation, and grading papers. BUT, he is there for us in other ways.

He will take the toddlers to the playroom if he's home and we are not yet finished with school. That's a huge help for us. The toddlers can make schooling rough at times.

He also has built multiple shelves for our home. We love having a lot of storage.

But, my dh is like your husband, he will not tell me what he wants for our kids. The only thing he insists on is to have religion in our studies, which is also important to me. As far as future goals and so forth, he doesn't say anything at all. He would much rather that *I* choose the curriculum and he'll fork over the money for it. LOL!

Maybe you just need to sit down and have a heart-to-heart chat. Tell him exactly what you need and want. Maybe even write it down on paper before talking to him, so you know *exactly* what you wish he would help you with. You could also have him to write out the goals he wishes for his children and compare.

Hope this helps!
