Supportive Homeschool Grandmothers

By , About.com Guide

There is a new breed of grandmothers appearing on the horizon. They are homeschool grandmothers. But what exactly is a homeschool grandma? What do they do? How do they contribute to their grandchildren? Why are they different from other grandmothers? There are different forms of homeschool grandmothers:
  • Veteran homeschool mothers, now experiencing the joy of watching their grandchildren being homeschooled. Graduating from homeschool mom to homeschool grandma is an honor and a prized position.

  • A grandmother who never homeschooled her own children, but now her grandchildren are being homeschooled.

  • A grandmother who has taken on the task of raising her grandchildren and chooses to homeschool them.
Regardless of what type of homeschool grandmother you are, you have responsibilities. Stay tuned as we explore homeschool grandmothers over the next few weeks. Share your stories. What is your experience as a homeschool grandparent? What role do you take? How do you help out? Feel free to email a picture or two (make sure to identify your picture so I can match it with your submission.
