Picture Book Writing Competition

Sylvan Dell Publishing is sponsoring their first Picture Book Writing Competition for homeschooled students. The author of the winning manuscript will receive a $200 prize and the consideration for the winning manuscript to be published in 2009. The owners of Sylvan Dell are former homeschooling parents and are excited to give this opportunity to the homeschool students across the country.

Deadline:

Submissions must be received by Maggie Stuart via email by May 1, 2007.

Who Can Participate:

This competition is open to homeschooled students working at a high school level.

Guidelines:

  1. Manuscripts must have a science, nature or math theme.
  2. Manuscripts must be 32 pages, including the title and copyright pages, as well as the "For Creative Minds" educational section.
  3. Manuscripts must be written for children ages 3 to 9.
  4. All submissions should be less than 1500 words.
  5. Submissions must be received by Maggie Stuart via email by May 1, 2007.

How to Enter:

Email your manuscripts to MaggieStuart@SylvanDellPublishing.com. Include students name, date of birth and a short biography. Follow the guidelines and consult the Sylvan Dell Publishing website for official information.

Prizes:

The winning author will receive $200 and the manuscript will be considered for publication.
