East Lake United Methodist Church Academy

I founded this group in 1990, because I view a "Ministry" as not something that is "exclusive" (that is just for believers) but is "inclusive" of everyone...(believers or not).

East Lake United Methodist Academy was formed to enable parents to take responsibility for their children's academic, emotional and moral growth through teaching at home. We believe in the family and in its ability as an institution to instruct children in the most positive and loving environment possible.

We are a church school that offers homeschool as a ministry of the local church, and offer support through: meetings, library, field trips, and other events.

We serve primarily families who are in the metro area of Birmingham AL. However if a family feels we are "local" enough for them to get to meetings we will serve them as well.

$20 per month per family.
One time registration fee $30.
Security Deposit. (returned after one year...) $100.

Parents can request a copy of our manual (which includes forms ) Once forms are filled out we will set up an in person interview to do the "paper shuffle."

We have a large library (20 of the tuition goes toward the library) you can check books and materials out for one month. We offer numerous field trips and events for both children and teens.

We have monthly meetings at East Lake UMC... the first Tues of the month at 7 PM. (the library is open 30 min before and after the meetings.) Please note that we do not meet in January, or July. The June meeting is our graduation. (we graduate both Seniors and Kindergartners). Generally..You are allowed to miss 4 meetings per year. Hopefully the meetings will be a pleasure and you will not want to miss them.
