Artistic Pursuits is a comprehensive art program designed to involve the student in the creative process while developing observational skills. It was written by homeschooling parents who understand the unique challenges homeschoolers face when teaching art. It is ideal for homeschoolers because it is student friendly, easily understood, and doesn't use expensive materials. This program is designed as an overview and easy to understand introduction to the subject of art. It includes a basic understanding of the elements of art and of composition. It mixes art instruction and art history while encourages creativity and experimentation in the assignments. Artistic Pursuits is more than just learning to draw, it's about experiencing art. Rather than copying a picture from a book at their desks, students take their drawing pads and go off to find, explore and experience the world around them. Each book comes with a set of prints of major works and artists. A print is used in each unit to teach how the lesson was used in a work of art by one of the masters. There are three levels consisting of 2 books each. The first book in each level covers elements of art related to drawing and composition. The second book in each level covers color and more composition.
I highly recommend this program to help students explore and develop their artistic abilities. It makes teaching art for the "artistically challenged" teacher easier. |
