Wyoming State Seal
The Great Seal of the State of Wyoming was adopted in its present form by the second Legislature in 1893. The two dates of the State Seal, 1869-1890, commemorate the admission into the Union. The draped figure in the center symbolizes the political status women have always enjoyed in Wyoming. The male figures typify the livestock and mining industries of the state. The motto displayed on the Territorial seal was "Cedant Arma Toga," translated: "Let arms yield to the grown," or more liberally, "Force must yield to law."
