Yukon Territorial Tartan

Designed by Janet Couture of Faro in 1965, Yukon's tartan was officially registered in 1984.  The tartan has stripes in varying widths of green, magenta, white, yellow, and purple on a crystalline blue background.

  • Blue - sparkling, glacier fed waters and its clear mountain skies.
  • Magenta - the color of the Yukon’s floral emblem, the firewood.
  • Green - wilderness forest
  • Purple - the mountain peeks in the northern sky.
  • White - the pure white snow on the mountain peaks and the alpine meadows.
  • Yellow - the long, soft evenings of the midnight sun, and the Yukon’s famous deposits of gold.
