Tamarack

The NWT Territorial Tree, the tamarack (Larix laricina) is a small to medium-sized tree that reached heights from six to 15 meters.

The tamarack, found throughout the NWT, was named the official tree on September 9, 1999 replacing the jack pine. In the NWT the tamarack is used for posts, poles and firewood.
