Hershey's Chocolate Founded - February 9, 1894

Milton S. Hershey was born on September 13, 1857 in a farmhouse near Derry Church, Pennsylvania. After working as an apprentice to a candy-maker, he opened his first candy shop at the age of 18. After several business failures, Milton purchased some German chocolate making equipment. The Hershey Chocolate Company was founded in 1894.
