Vision/Purpose:

SWDHSA is comprised of individuals or families interested in the concepts of educating children in the home and in providing a support group to encourage the high standard and excellence throughout its membership. It furthers the appreciation of home education in the local communities through educational forums and other media communications. This group provides the opportunity for fellowship and idea exchange among families that home school and those who are merely interested in home education.

Mission Statement:

SWDHSA provides moral support through the exchanging of resources, curriculum ideas and open discussions of educational issues; by promoting educational opportunities through field trips and group activities; by establishing a network for communicating political and legal information; by providing open meetings where qualified speakers address home educational topics; and by providing a venue where children can present their accomplishments and be recognized for excellence.

Religious Affiliation:

Though any home schooler is welcome to participate, this support group is doing all things in a manner which honors Biblical principles. We are adopting a limited statement to these fundamental principles - see Biblical Basis on our website.

Composition:

Serving Home Schoolers in Dallas, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Desoto and the surrounding areas.

Fees:

$30.00 as of the 2003/04 school year

You may print it out and mail it with your check to SWDHSA Membership Chairman, P. O. Box 1104, Cedar Hill, TX 75106-1104. Direct any questions to the Membership Chairman.

Membership Benefits:

SWDHSA dues entitle your family to:

  • Member directory
  • Membership card, entitling you to teacher discounts at various bookstores and educational retailers in the area.
  • Fellowship with a group of like-minded home schoolers, where you will find encouragement and help as you go about the rewarding and challenging ministry of educating your children.

Meetings:

Please accept this as a personal invitation to attend our support group meetings, which are open to the public. We usually meet the 2nd Monday of the month during the school year at 7p.m. at New Life Bible Fellowship, 3727 W. Kiest in Dallas. Please contact info@swdhsa.org to confirm meeting dates and times.

We at SWDHSA operate under Christian principles and strive to minister to families living in Dallas County and northern Ellis County with support and encouragement. As you shoulder the exciting privilege of home schooling your children, it is our desire to help you find the resources you need to enhance your home education experience. Whether you are a newcomer to home schooling or a seasoned veteran, SWDHSA can provide to you opportunities for fellowship, educational activities, curriculum ideas or exchanges, up to date legal and political information and venues to showcase what home education is all about &- our children.
