What's for Lunch? - Cooking With Kids

Recipes to make lunchtime fun and educational.

By Beverly Hernandez, About.com

"I'm looking for some creative, frugal lunch ideas that kids will eat. I'm stuck in a bit of a rut here, and the kids and I are getting really tired of sandwiches and soup.

I'd love to hear what everyone else eats and serves their kids for lunch!" ANNIEK3

When my kids were young, my mother-in-law used to question them about what they were missing out on staying home rather than going to school. One time, she asked about missing lunch. My daughter innocently answered, "No, we eat lunch."

Lunch time can be a fun time and also a time of learning. Kids love to cook and lunch is a good time to let them try out new dishes. They will be using their reading skills, math skills, spelling skills and creativity. It's a good time to talk about nutrition and what things are better for your body and why. You can let them pour over kids cookbooks and choose recipes and let them help write the list and do the shopping for their recipes.

Here are some ideas for kids lunches from the internet and also from the Homeschooling Forum.
