A new study in Britain this month suggests that bedtime stories may be a dying tradition, as parents find themselves too busy or too tired to adhere to the old routines.
That's a shame, because reading aloud is one of the most powerful ways to help kids learn to read -- and learn to enjoy books.
Even when children have their own read-along apps, sharing a story aloud together is a great bonding tool for families. My children enjoyed having books read to them right into their teens. And we still listen to audiobooks on long car trips.
Does your family have a bedtime story routine?
