There we heard Park Ranger Joe Craig give a talk on the history of the occasion, and read the Declaration of Independence. Then we all raised a cup of lemonade, shouted "Huzzah!" and biked home. (Thankfully, with the wind at our back and downhill most of the way.)
Thundershowers may prohibit fireworks this year, but so far, we've had good luck carrying on our tradition of learning history in the community through live events with experts.
