Looking for a challenging science class for your high schooler? MIT will be offering a free online introductory level biology course, hosted by professor Eric Lander, one of the leaders of the Human Genome Project. Subject matter will focus on heredity and human health.
The class runs 12 weeks and includes a series of lectures, interactive video tutorials, homework assignments and exams. Students should expect to spend 6-8 hours per week on the work, and online learners who achieve a passing grade will receive a free certificate of mastery.
The course starts March 5, and all lectures, problem sets, deep dives, lab videos, and textbook are available online at no charge. The only prerequisite? "A desire to learn."
