Well, OK, not really. But Friday's meteor landing in Russia, combined with the flyby of an asteroid that came closer to the Earth than many satellites made for some exciting current events.
We spent some time watching a live Google Chat with Phil Plait, the Bad Astronomy blogger, who talked about both celestial happenings.
During the talk, Plait mentioned his great book Death From the Skies! (Compare Prices), which details what would happen if asteroid really slammed into the Earth. That made me think about other science books I'd recommend. Go take a look at my list of Exciting Science Reads for Tweens and Teens.
