Homeschool Promotion and Graduation Ceremonies

I attended the graduation ceremony for our homeschool group last year. It was held at the monthly park day. The park has a very nice amphitheater with a stage for the passing out the diplomas. We had kindergarten, 6th grade and 8th grade graduates. Parents, friends and grandparents came to make it a special day. It was simple, but nice.

How do you celebrate your graduate's achievement? Share your ideas of your celebrations to help other homeschooling families who are promoting or graduating their students.

My son is graduating from the 8th grade and his friend has recently graduated from 12th grade. I am having an 8th grade graduation ceremony for my son and a graduation party for both my son and his friend. Ours is not until later in June. I invited about 30 guests and will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill with side dishes like potato salad and mac salad. We will have the graduation cake as desert. I plan on a nice ceremony for my son highlighting what my son has accomplished so far and what he wants to accomplish in High School. I have some decorations and a memory board made. My son’s homeschooling colors are purple and black and he will be wearing a purple graduation cap with a black tassel, purple shirt and black dress pants, no graduation gown. His friend will wear his cap and gown that he wore at his own graduation. It should be fun and interesting. I have a lot of work to do but it will be all worth it!! I can’t wait!
