Yorba Linda Fires a little too close to home

Tuesday November 18, 2008

The Yorba Linda fires came within 3 miles from my home and since my daughter's family was evacuated and staying with us, it's good we didn't get evacuated too. It's a relief to be out of danger, that's for sure.

My husband is a volunteer firefighter for Orange County, California. He sets up a heli-base nearby and keeps the helicopters fueled and full of water. The helicopters play an important part by fighting the fire from the air with water drops. They fill the buckets with water and drop the water on the fire. It was comforting for him to come home at night and reassure the grandkids that they were safe.
